Did an update today and in my area there is a local airfield not included as active (beccles/ellough), so while I wouldn;t fly there, the drone would happily fly there. However, a new military site has appeared near framlingham - turns out to be easton green near kettleburgh - and on google earth all the images of the two houses on the site are blobbed out. I didn't know that you could ask DJI to make your home a drone free zone, but I did know Google would remove it from streetview on request. Very strange.

Here you go - two private houses, not a military installation - as far as I can see, the only private house in Norfolk and Suffolk where a drone cannot fly over.

I can see it is edited out of the streetview, but are you saying there is a No Fly Zone over those houses?

If you fire up DJI go and look at the GEO map, it's marked as a military zone. We have a few prisons, USAF and RAF bases, civil airports and Sizewell nuclear power station, but we also have two houses!

I'm not sure what you are talking about.
When I look on Google Earth, the two houses are shown in the same low detail level as every other house for miles around.

On street view - everything is removed, even the track of the camera car is incomplete so you cannot read the sign at the end of the road. My point being that it appears possible to ask DJI to put a geofence on a domestic property in a rural area. The two residences have both had planning -permission over the past few years and one of them can be found on an estate agents site for rent. Which makes me just wonder why you cannot fly a drone in the perfectly safe countryside?

OK, I just took a look at the Fly-Safe map, and you are quite correct, it is shown as a triangular zone marked as a Military Facility. Very odd indeed. No idea why that would be the case. And no, I don't think DJI will mark your house as a zone like that if you ask them. But in any event, DJI do not perform this work anyway, they outsource it to another company that specialises in doing this sort of work. Thank you for bringing trhis up, a fascinating case.

I'm very tempted to drive there and see if there is something interesting going on. Conspiracy theories aside, it's just plain odd!

Perhaps if you take a camera and poke it through the hedge someone might come out and challenge you.

I remember a few years back hot air balloon  operators were forced out  of business because of  an "olive farm" that had massive walls and heavily armed gaurds. The entire valley  was a no fly zone. This was in Arizona or New Mexico.

My theory, some top level brass lives in at least one of them...

I suppose that taking pictures - not against the law her in the UK - would show how seriously the occupants take their security. I've never seen Streetview prevent you seeing a road sign before. When they were blobbing out the view through a small cluster of trees (for goodness sake) they removed the little bit of travel past the sign. Very strange.

Here in Australia I have seen street signs of all types blobbed out, for no apparent reason.

if it's for rent call the real estate agent tell them you are interested in renting and ask to preview the house
