I'm looking for suggestions on the best proxy format(s) for editing Mavic 2 H.265 files in Premiere Pro. If anyone can recommend a workflow it would be greatly appreciated! I have some experience in Premiere Pro, but not a lot.  Thanks!

Depends on your hardware, what your PC can handle. You should keep the same aspect ratio for the resolution, though.

Alright, that CPU is really outdated and weak for H.265. I would try some low resolution Proxys (like 640x480) and put the real time playback to 1/4 or so.
I have an 8 Core CPU @3,8GHz and still have to do that. H.265 is EXTREMELY ressource demanding.

Thanks for the advice!  BTW, the processor is less than a year old - is it really outdated?  I thought it represented a significant improvement in laptop processors when it was released.

Thanks!

To be fair, it's only a 4 core processor with low GHz. You also have to consider that you are working on a laptop. As already stated, you need a REALLY powerful PC to be able to edit H.265 effectively. But as I recommended, try it out and see if it works for you.

Some interesting info here. I'm a new Mavic Air owner and struggle with the 2K playback on my custom build PC. I haven't tried proxies yet.

I have no issue editing with 4K footage from my Lumix G80/G85 but the MA 2k footage is very frustrating.

Editing in Premiere Pro on AMD Ryzen 5 processor. 500gb SSD. 16gb RAM.
