The information on the GPS roll-over has always stated it would only effect GPS devices 10-15 years old using the old date format. We're talking the first generation of Garmins. DJI hasn't been around that long, so the new format has always been used. But yes, the doom and gloom end-of-the-world guys will always be out there. For example, we had a fairly strong geomagnetic storm the other day that persisted over 6 hours. I flew intentionally - didn't notice a thing. Don't recall reading how dozens of DJI drones suddenly fell out of the sky like the doom and gloomers always predict. But, good to see DJI issued the statement to remove any doubt about the upcoming GPS rollover. There's really not much that can knock your Phantom out of the sky except you (well, and those nasty trees!). Good flying all.
Yes, anyone paying attention should have known from the very first announcements that the rollover was a non-issue for DJI drones. Yet we still had numerous chicken little threads. Hopefully they'll decrease in frequency now that DJI made a statement (probably not). |
