I saw a while back that you could attach the inspire phone holder to a phantom 3 controller with some modifications. I was wondering if this is worth the work, and if so what would I need to do to attach it?

I did exactly that with my P3P. The inspire mounts fits without needing any modifications and is quite robust.

it was a while back when I did it, but as I recall it simply screws into the case.

Most of the demonstrations on youtube that I saw said that you have to take apart the controller and drill a whole.

Perhaps you do have to dismantle the controller case with a P3 Standard, I diid not with my P3 Pro.

Hi, thanks for the inquiry. We're hoping that you could get the best recommendation that you may need. For a friendly reminder, modification on your unit would void the validity of the warranty. Aloha Droner500,

Geebax may have the right suggestion for the P3 Standard to.  I just looked at the products and my own equipment and I think Geebax is right - it should just screw in.  The Inspire device holder looks like it has two extra screws off to each side but they are just stabilization arms and do not have screws.

Look to see if you have a simple knob built-in to the center of the P3S device holder.  If you take the device holder off of your P3S remote controller you should only have one large built-in knob with a screw thread and another detachable very short shaft machine screw.  The Inspire device holder has a large screw that goes in where the knob is and another screw that is identical to what you have for your P3S that is closer to your chest and near where the lanyard attach point is.

It should just swap out.  If you post a link to one or two of the YouTube videos that say you have to open the case and screw holes, we should be able to confirm that Geebax is right.

     Hope this helps!

Aloha and Drone On!

Aloha Geebax,

Another great idea!  The Inspire device holder is a bit expensive, but it looks real stable.  Mahalo for the idea!

I have did the same MOD.
But i drillend no holes.
Just screw the holder to the eye on the controller.
Put a small rubber under the holder and done....
Never had any problem, using a Ipad2 Mini.

What do you mean by a small rubber? Like silicone or something?

Yep,

a small plastic or rubber to fill the space between the holder and controller.
