I just had a look at the pictures that won the recent Skypixel competition.

I suppose I am a traditionalist so I feel comfortable with the usual scenes like the first one.
However, I sometimes find abstract more interesting like #2, the ([size=100%]crash, bloat, herd, pod or dale) of Hippos.
Perhaps my instant appeal is for #11, the B&W desert shot, possibly because it reminds me of the location for the thriller I am writing.

Like you the desert shot, I have been reading some stuff around the judging of sky pixel art work and I have to say it’s enough to make anyone skeptical, that’s all I will say on the matter, all winners are excellent.

I am still trying to understand what makes a picture so popular, then I will just take it. Ha ha.

All the shots are great to look at. The winners deserve their accolade.
For me, some of the editing and special effects go a bit too far. IMHO of course.
Maybe I'm just getting old
