It seems that in order to import and playback the videos on newer iOS Devices, Osmo Pocket needs to save the video using H.265 HEVC codec  so we can either use the MIMO app or the SD card reader (lightning or usb-c) in order to support importing 4K60FPS videos. It also brings support to importing 1080P Slo-Mo videos.

Unfortunately, it does not appear that the Osmo Pocket has the on-board processing power to handle H.265.

Sorry, but I don't think this is true.
According to teardown videos, the Osmo Pocket uses an Ambarella H22 Video SoC which, according to the product whitepaper,  is fully capable of handling H.265 HEVC and H.264 natively.

So it seems that this is indeed a software issue and can be fixed on firmware.

It would be great to have the choice between h264 and h265. Actually it could be a solution to the 4GB problem

Other devices like Osmo Pocket but half priced and with h.265 will be out soon so they have to upgrade it or will be out of market!
