(This is a re-edit without the offending shot that I posted about in another thread.)

What do you do on the flat prairies when you want to go alpine skiing? You build and hill and call it a mountain.

"Mount" Blackstrap soars a lofty 45 metres above its adjoining lake (supplemental oxygen supply is optional). The ski hill has been closed for years but thousands learned to ski on it, including myself. The lake was still frozen last week so there were some fishermen out on the ice. One had the courtesy to catch a fish while I was shooting.

Great video!  Love the ski "hill".  I live in the mountains of NE Washington state where we have 6 ski areas within 100 miles.  Amazing how smooth the ice was. Nicely done

Yeah, it doesn't compare to any mountain ski run. Our "mountain" quickly became better known as the Pimple on the Prairie. But it's a seven-hour drive to the Rockies from here, so...

The snow cover on the ice had mostly melted and frozen again, hence the smooth surface. I don't remember seeing it blue like that before but I'm glad it was.
