Hello everyone! I quickly went through some of the more useful Resolve 16 features!


Do you use Resolve for editing?

Did you install the new version yet? I’ve noticed that the playback is super choppy and if the source clips are not the same resolution, they’ll bug out really hard. Apart from the fact that I can’t even start up the Studio version!

Great work as always! Four minutes full of information that need 4 hours to get comfortable with I watched at least 2 hours videos from Blackmagicdesign about DR 16 but I found some things in your video I missed at BMD. Thanks!

Hello! Yes, exactly! BUT! You can get around that by transcoding your clips from H265 to something like ProRes (if you're on a Mac) or DNxHR (if you're on Windows). The clips will work fine then!

Karlo-m , thanks for your post its nice and clear .
  
I downloaded the DaVinci Resolve Studio V 16b and edited my first video. Over all its impressive.
  
However, its CPU/ GPU demanding software. If I do too much clip editing same time all of sudden "CPU or GPU memory full " message comes out .although when I  click OK , can still continue  my editing  , this was not an error message I used to get from  DRS  V15.
  
Agree, the  playback performance is very low ,which can  be partially improved  by tweaking the general settings and playback settings  but still struggle to have smooth fps.Hope the final version will address this issue.

Karlo,
Thanks for the editorial on Resolve. I am still using DaVinci Resolve 15. I thought about updating . Maybe in the near future I will update. Was there much of a learning curve with the 16?
Do you have the Sapphire plugin installed? I have it and was wondering if I update will 16 overwrite everything and I would have to reinstall Sapphire.
