Hello,

I’d like to print one big 1:1 ratio picture split in 4 different frames (4x 30”x30”).

In order to do that I need 1 big picture at 60”x60” cut in 4 ways.

How many pictures should I snap with my Mavic Pro of my subject in order to maintain a print quality of 300ppi?

Basically I need to crop 18000 pixels by 18000 pixels.

I would like to do this in one attempt so my logistics have to be on point

Thanks in advance for your contribution on helping me to calculate this

Well it looks like the image size of the Mavic Pro is 4000×3000. So in order to make is fill the 18000x18000 frame you will need roughly 5 images vertically and 6 horizontally for a total of 30 images is what I'm thinking.

Hmmm that’s a lot of stitches! Has anyone tried that?

This shouldn't be a problem in Photoshop

Yes, I have tried it (very often), although I usually only get 2 or 3 rows before you run out of 'earth' to capture.

I work in portrait mode and AEB-5 shooting mode.
Work row by row, starting gimbal UP as far as possible (check your settings to be able to move the gimbal up even further) only rotating between the shots. (make sure you have at least 1/4 overlap)
Until a row is full, move gimbal down and work backwards.
And again for the next row.

My best guess is that you will run out of perspective after 3 rows.
But this should give you a huge pano to work with!
That way you will get a huge set of AEB stacks.

My suggestion is to merge them first (HDR merge) with one preset and afterwards use panorama software for the stitching.

Do you have some examples you've taken this way Montfrooij?

PS and you have the 'zoom' right?
So you can make double the amount of images because you can zoom in!

Awesome photos, thanks - particularly the last one.
I'm going to give your suggestions a go and see what I can create. Do you use Photoshop to merge the AEB?

Thanks.
I use Affinity Photo instead of photoshop for the AEB merging, since that has a very good merge engine.
But, if you have the Nik collection (HDR Effex Pro) that also gives awesome results!
The stitching is done with Autopano giga (discontinued unfortunately, but you can find it in some places online still)

wow awesome step by step Montfrooij, exactly what i wanted to hear to save time. The gimbal tip is great and never thought about it. Stunning work for all the pictures you shared.

What's AEB ? I am not familiar with the term
