Great article, however they do forget to mention that not only were they at 14,000ft but were flying at 200mph+ in the dark. Now I don't know about the rest of you, but I have lost VLS when I glanced at my screen with my drone that has been 50ft away from me in broad daylight. How these pilots were able to spot 2 drones at 14,000ft whilst travelling at 200mph+ in the dark is beyond me.
You do start to get the feeling that the media is becoming very anti-drone, and that ANY scare is now going to be blamed on drones. Whatever came of the Gatwick incident and the Heathrow incident a few days later ? None of the main stream media will report that these incidents still have no hard evidence of a drone being involved. The BBC did a program on Panorama, where at the end of the program the narrator stated that of the 120+ people that reported the drones over Gatwick, not one of them had any evidence nor would appear on camera to state what they saw.
The Heathrow incident led to the arrest of a flyer with a £2,000 fine - but he was flying a remote controlled plane and not a drone so that will explain why the media lost total interest on that one...
As for Gatwick... I think it's obvious now that there was never a drone there!
