I just bought the X5S Camera. I didn't realize you have to spend another $1000 for Apple ProRes to record in 5.2 K. Is it worth buying the camera without those codecs?

What's the output format for the files the codecs generate? Do they have to be converted to .MOV or .MP4 format before the end user can view them? Can they be uploaded to YouTube?
