So it is designed to have the connector extend out when zipped?

You could just glue something stiff to the front of the lens cap to add that rigidity, but yes would be nicer if it was that way from the factory.

That was the plan.  And I think I have just the item - I've had a 2 Swiss Franc coin around for about 3 years now.  It looks about perfect! (g)
