Hello everyone,

I just got my new Action yesterday and it was pretty good. We spent hours playing around with this little guy. One problem that I am not sure is that the speaker has some noise when playing some videos. Just like the sound you get from an old mobile phone has little water damage. This does not happen a lot but it is kind of annoying. When I tried to play videos via my phone (APP mimo), I did not hear the noise. Is this normal or a bug? Or the speaker of my Action has some flaws?

So you do NOT hear the noise when playing back on the phone?  What about if you copy/move the file to computer and play it back there - any noise?  Frankly, I have rarely played back on the small screen camera.  I may test it later.

You might want to post a video or sound file to youtube with an example of the noise.

Thank you for your reply. No, I did not hear any strange noise when I use my phone (mimo) to review the videos. I am in Chicago to try this camera. I just cannot help myself doing so lol. I'll double check when I go back. If the problem persists, I'll try to upload some videos. Thanks again!

It wouldn't sound like a scratchy sort of noise would it?  I've had it on my OA and GPH7B.  Found it was the tightness of the frame when joined to a selfie stick.  Any vibration on the stick gets carried up through the frame into the mic.

This video may explain it.  Hope it helps.

I second this, for me it's almost like a loud fuzzy noise or as if you're by the sea and loud waves crashing. Best way to explain it but has only happened once to me.

I tried to record this phenomenon and uploaded videos to YouTube. This problem happens occasionally. The noise just like the Action speaker has something shakey inside or the sound from an old mobile phone when water enters it.
I have two groups of tests: each test includes one file downloaded from Mimo and the other one recorded by a phone. The ambient is very quiet. Please wear earphones if possible.

Thanks for your reply. I tried to hold Action firmly without moving it. I also had some videos to show this problem (in this thread). Thanks in advance for any further input.

It is normal and it is due to the Osmo Action  speaker. The video is OK.

I have the same issue. There is a jarring sound in the OSMO Speakers when playing high frequency sounds.
