Just got my Ronin-S today. I have a Canon80D (which I'd love to be able to use completely...please update firmware on this ASAP)

But the problem I'm having is that when I try to use Sport Mode by holding in the M button, it seems like it will work a little bit but then it starts freaking out and making grinding sounds in the motors.

please look at the page 22 of the user manual

"Press and hold Ronin-S’ M button and trigger simultaneously for four seconds to start
Auto Tune. The default Auto Tune grade is Medium."

Hi - I did the auto tune - several times. It said it was all excellent but I still was having this problem with 'sport mode'.

Hi, you don't understand in this button (M button plus trigger at least for four seconds) combination you are enabling auto tune and this is the reason of this behavior presented on your video
