Well I have spend some time to test Phase Detection AF.



Came up with 3 test cases.

1. Set the focus by touch and moving toward the object to see if focus follows.
2. From close focus to far away focus in light



Moving focus simply not work.


It probably too much to ask to this small devide for DSLR like performance


Close to far focus speed is actually slower than previous firmware.
However it doesn’t have previous firmware’s micro contrast detection zitter and much smoother. (Well previous firmware’s focus zitter was very small to begin with)
I am sure it will be improved in the next firmware.

Been looking closely this PDAF performance, I think the issue is not the speed but its inconstant focus detection rate.
With same object, its focus speed is very different. Sometimes slow and sometimes very fast.


So I guess we are not seeing full potencial of PDAF here until DJI improve detection accuracy.
(If you touch focus, it behaive much faster and that puzzles me)

Great testing, thanks for that.  It's been some time since I experienced video completely ruined by a focus issue.  Fast focus is of course important, but most important for me is that it does focus accurately and that there is no annoying pulsing of the picture.  As you say in your video, focussing is something that will probably improve even more in subsequent firmware releases.

Compared with V01.06, I think the difference is more obvious.

I am really happy it focus the background slower than 1.07, it is smooth and give a cinematic look, and less phone like. Thank you Tide!

Yeah some focus transition do look nicer to frame the shot.

No problem mate

After updating could not access hyperlapse apparently the underwater case was activated and i could not deactivate even via mimo app .
Did a reset on osmo pocket and it came back.

Wow, that's a good test!  The best, due to the use of two Pockets side by side.
This morning I tried face focus using a selfie stick - holding the Pocket as far away as I could, then bringing it right up to my face rapidly.  Although there is a momentary loss of focus in the rapid movement, it very quickly locked focus to my face after the camera was still.  Impressive compared to the early releases.

Best comparison test ever!

Speed is similar or new one is better but it seems the detection accuracy is visibly improved.
