I just viewed the MicroSD card and found out that the tip of the gun shows on most photos and videos.  Is it me or has anyone else experienced this?

That's a bummer.  I wonder why DJI didn't notice or fix it during testing.  Hopefully, it can be fixed via software update.  

It looks like you can also mount the camera on top. I moved it and not only do I not see the gun tip, it also takes photo from a better angle.

I think the reason is because the camera's primary purpose is for engaging the RoboMaster in games/activities and not photography.  I personally love the view of having the barrel visible. makes the action much more fun in battle mode. Especially in low light when firing gel beads and the laser at the same time.

Agreed. I never gave this a second thought because it seems natural that the barrel is visible - it's a robot tank! I love seeing it. That said, Malibu Aerial's post is helpful if you want another aesthetic.
