Hello everyone, I'm new to drones. I used to fly model helicopters and planes and had a AMA membership which had a little liability coverage if something bad happened. Is it a wise thing to have liability insurance like AMA for drones? Not sure if this falls under an individual having personal insurance coverage for themselves. Any recommendations will be appreciated.

I have found specific drone policies through my broker that cover liability and replacement for around $800/year

Depends on where you are flying, in Switzerland you are required to have liability insurance covering 1'000'000.- Swiss Francs and you need to carry the certificate while operating the drone. Other countries may and will have other laws, it's always worth checking first.

Can’t help you for Balkan but being an insurance adjuster who flies a drone for work I encourage everyone to make sure they have liability coverage for themselves and their drone...accidents do happen and last thing you’ll want if it happens to you is to not have it

AMA has basic insurance with their annual plan, but you can also get liability insurance as an AMA member as well. I insured my drone through state farm insurance and then for liability insurance on top of that I am using Verifly.
I have had my drone about 2 weeks and got insurance before my first flight. Hopefully I will never need to use it. But it is nice to have it for comfort of flying.
