Hi, please help. It was my first flight on vacation and only cache photos were saved from the Smart Controller (very tiny files). How do I retrieve the files from the Smart Controller? My SD card from the drone has other photos and videos - with no problem.
Thank you so much for helping.

Hi, thank you for reaching out. The cache file is normally saved on the mobile device and you can only edit it thru the app and share via social media platforms. Therefore, the original file that was saved on the SD card is the one you can only edit using a 3rd party application. Should you have any inquiries please don't hesitate to reach us. Thank you!

The mavic 2 has internal storage. If you didn't change the storage location, your pictures will be there. You need to connect a usb cable from your drone to a computer to transfer them. When you use an SD card in your mavic 2, you better change the default storage to it, so you'll find your pictures on the SD card.

Thank you for the additional information. Can you please clarify if the images or files that were saved on the DJI Smart Controller also the one that you are referring to doesn't have the duplicate file on the SD card? Please keep us posted. Thanks!

Just doing testing. My drone sd recorded the 4k files. some in log, great. The videos I can playback on the Smart controller are unreadable to upload to FCPx or anywhere because they are cashe files and only small and they are only meant for Sharing? Have I got this right?

Hi, I'm wondering if you found the answers you were looking for. I just bought my Mavic 2 pro and I need help.
Please can you guide me to a link that explains the functions of the Smart Controller with Mavic 2pro for photography and video?  I would like to understand how the photography/video process works; where are original, full-sized files stored, what are the options and how can I change them.  Thank you. Firstly on android (and SC) generally you need to manually initiate a download of photos from the drone (clicking the play icon, batch select all and download).  They usually wont download the first time its used that day automatically.
Secondly, JPG only.  For some obscure reason it cannot read DNG files so only downloads any JPG images taken.  Same for d-log video.

Hello, the micro SD card in my Mavic 2 Pro was not fully inserted on a flight yesterday. Therefore, the image files were not saved on the SD card that was in the drone. I can see the images on my smart controller (perhaps just small previews, but still visible). How do I get those image files from the smart controller onto my MacBook Pro or to my iPhone 14 pro? I inserted another micro SD card into the slot in the Smart Controller but am not finding any image files on internal storage, and nothing happens when I connect the Smart controller to the laptop by UBS-C to USB-C.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Any images on the controller are just tiny thumbnails and not worth trying to retrieve.
If you didn't properly put the SD card in the drone, the actual images should have been recorded to the internal storage of your drone.
Connect the drone to a computer with a USB cable to access the images in the internal storage.

Hello.

I have the Smart Controller (SC) and a Mavic 2 Zoom.

I'm  trying to save the pictures taken in flight with the drone into the SD  card of the drone AND also in the same time into the SD card of the  Smart Controller (SC), is this possible? Or just directly to the Smart  Controller (SC) SD Card.

I tried to follow the steps explained in the Smart Controller (SC) User Manual (DJI Smart Controller User Manual V1) but never success whereas the option « Auto Sync HD Photos » and « Download footage to external SD card » are enable.

The Smart Controller (SC) User Manual (DJI Smart Controller User Manual V1) says that:

Appendix

Changing Storage Locations for Images and Videos

After  linking, you can use DJI GO 4 to select to store images and videos on  the aircraft. Users can also use DJI GO 4 to select to store images and  videos to the Smart Controller or on the microSD card in the Smart  Controller.

Auto Sync HD Photos:
Power on  the remote controller and the aircraft, and make sure they are linked.  Run DJI GO 4, and enter the camera view. Tap > and enable “Auto Sync  HD Photos”. All images will be stored in high resolution to the microSD  card in the remote controller at the same when the microSD card in the  aircraft stores the images.

Store to Smart Controller:
Power on the remote controller and the aircraft, and make sure they are linked. Run DJI GO 4, and enter camera view. Tap > :
To cache images and videos to the remote controller, enable “Cache Locally When Recording”.
To store images and videos to the microSD card in the remote controller, enable “Download Footage to External SD Card”.
When  “Download Footage to External SD Card” is enabled, all the selected  images will be downloaded to the remote controller's microSD card when  downloading the images to the remote controller in playback.
The “Cache Locally When Recording” and “Download Footage to External SD Card” are disabled by default.
To enable “Download Footage to External SD Card”, make sure a microSD card is inserted into the remote controller.

There is always nothing in the folder "Storage/external_sd/DJI/dji.go.v4/DJI Album".

Why isn’t it working?
What  is the exact way to save the pictures taken with the drone in the same  time into the Smart Controller (SC) SD Card, or at least  just directly  to the Smart Controller (SC) SD Card?
Or is it impossible?

Hello.

I have the Smart Controller (SC) and a Mavic 2 Zoom.

Answer of DJI online support is: "So while flying it is not possible  to save pictures on the SC. For this you will need to download the  pictures from the drone to the SC".

Another member of DJI support staff is telling me it's possible and tried to make it working but never managed...
He has opened a ticket and will try on his side with a Mavic 2 Zoom and will come back to me in more or less 1 week after having tested.

Only reply I got by email 3 days after is to turn ON "AutoSync HD Photos" which is something I've obviously already tried and done.
But the fact is I don't see nowhere on the SD Card of the Smart Controller (SC) where are the HD files.
