Hi,

In January 2020 DJI is supposed to introduce 'AirSense' to the Mavic series and other drones. Will this reflect on prices and make the current models obsolete before their time?
Cheers.

Hello and good day ssylca44. Thank you for choosing DJI. As of the moment the DJI Mavic 2 series drone are one of the best consumer drones DJI has to offer. I will be posting a link where in you can check the overview, specifications and frequently asked questions for the DJI Mavic 2 series ( https://www.dji.com/mavic-2?site=brandsite&from=nav ). In addition we don't have any information regarding DJI's future products in 2020, please stay tuned to the latest news and events by subscribing to DJI official website at www.dji.com or following us on social media:

I fancy in 2020 M2 will become a legacy drone, I’m thinking that dji May release new drones next year M3, P5, MA2 and these will have AirSense built in. We may even see a couple of these drones in the third quarter for the Xmas market .

Phantom line up is over..

But moving onto the topic,

The way the announcement is made regarding airsense  it would suggest, any new drone released after that date, I don’t believe the mavic 2 will get the upgrade.

I’m aware the enterprise mavic 2 comes with airsense as a option, but your paying a lot more then retail, just for the enterprise version with out airsense.

The next release of the Mavic will have it , but what that’s going to be no one on here will know could be mavic 3 could be mavic 2SE

I'd go with the Mavic 2 today because I doubt we'll see a Mavic 3 that early in January 2020. At best, the soonest I'd expect to see a Mavic 3 wouldn't be until well into the 3rd quarter of 2020, if we even did see a new Mavic at all next year in 2020?..

Sounds about right, I heard DJI new drone production was grounded but I didn’t know why. They are probably waiting for the anti collision tech to mature..

Given DJIs 2 ish year cycle for drones you wouldnt expect a Mavic 3 until Sept 2020 at least.

As for Airsense, its not worth getting overly excited about.  Other than the US where ADS-B will be mandatory by that time, in the rest of the world as is the case now, most traffic that would conflict with a drone (light aircraft, helicopters, military etc) do not broadcast ADS-B and wouldnt be detected by Airsense.

If you're THAT desperate for it, you can spend $20 on a DVB-T stick and install software on your mobile device that'll do exactly the same job without waiting.

Nobody said that new machines will be released in January. What they said was beginning in January, NEW products will have Airsense. This means we might not even see a refresh of the Mavic 2 in 2020.

If you look at the long product cycles, you can almost be sure that the M2 will only have a slight facelift. An M3 is guaranteed to appear in 2021.

That's why I wouldn't wait for it.  The Air and Spark have been on the market for a long time.

The progress is getting smaller and smaller, the cameras are very good and sufficient. I don't currently know why an M3 should really be so good. Air Sense is nice, but it's still a while before it really becomes an OBLIGATION.

Why doesn’t anyone anywhere actually answer this question? They just say enjoy your drone while you can. How can you enjoy a 2000 dollar drone you haven’t had more than a year, when you know you might not even be able to fly it after 2020? That stupid to say. Please answer the question? Will ads-b be required for hobbies/non-hobbies in order to launch there drones and legally fly? I cannot see a company like dji not creating a solution for the current mavic 2 pro/zoom and phantom 4 2.0  (a little over a year old” to be able to adapt to this . Please forgive me, but people need to quit telling us to enjoy our drones while we can. That is stupid
