I don't think the Phantom can pitch that far up to see the North Star - Polaris....

I know what you mean. I live near the Lake District . Lakes mean lots of rain. If its not raining the wind is blowing. SOmetimes wonder why I do this!

You mean it gets hot enough to need one? I wish that were the case here.

Flew this last week.  After careful analysis, my final assessment:  rain.

As for serious meteo talk, i dare say we cant get any serious data from the drones due to the limited height, by rights, the temp drops 1c around every 100m alt, so with only a -1C they are not much use there, wind speed they could do but again, only to 120m. Also, is there not a negative pressure cause by the props that makes them colder, hence they can freeze up (when its colder) so any temp gauge would have to be sticking out quite a ways as not to be affected by the prop wash, im just guessing, but I did thinking about a comparison at the 10m range against my Davis, but it was only a fleeting thought though

My thoughts were mainly using it in fog or potential fog situations. Producing a very limited height tephigram at frequent intervals to measure how fog forms. Or perhaps measuring the effects of a sea breeze, but that would require a number of drones. Just a couple of ideas that might be payed out in the lower parts of the atmosphere where a balloon launched sensor does not really record.

I just lick my finger and hold it up, for wind speed and direction. ;-p

Works great in the deer stand...
