The preference for mapping would be a camera with mechanical shutter.  The bird can fly the map at 30 mph, and never stop for the shot.

The 200 or 600 images are crystal clear...... I think, I don't know that the M2P can do that.

Flying a 9 mile stretch of coastal rail, and having to do 3D ortho,   each plot being about 48 to 52 acres at 250ft..... you need a bird that goes 30mph to get it all done in a day...1 battery per flight.
For that you need a mechanical shutter.

Camera 4 x 3  wht Bal= sunny   everything else normal

In Drone Deploy if your legs are long enough you can, in Advanced Settings,  set your speed within reason.   If the legs are short you can get 17 to 20mph.   The AC doesn't stop to take a pic and doesn't fly super slow either

Anyone with a basic understanding of photography would realise that you use whatever exposure settings are appropriate for your subject and lighting conditions.
What someone used for his project in whatever lighting conditions he had is meaningless to you in a different situation.
You may as well ask what size shoes he wore.

They are probably using a shutter speed that gives good exposure and a sharp focused image.
That could be anything depending on the lighting and darkness of their subject matter.
The height they fly at will also be a relevant factor to consider.

Now that made me spit me coffee back into my cup

Ant, its not an easy question to answer, many factors can upset a photos outcome as youve been told, but it also depends on what look you are going for, now, for someone flying at 30mph then i would have to assume that they are shooting a moving object, if so then it too would depend on what image they are going for, if its static subject image  then a higher shutter would be beneficial but, if the image is to be of, lets say a train in motion and you wanted to capture motion blur in the foreground and background, the most obvious higher shutter speed would NOT be better in this case, a lower and good panning, some skill would be involved to get that type of shot for sure but its just an example, ive seen the post shot too, looks cool (if its to be believed), if youre on FB then take a look

I want to know what the experts have used.  I'm not looking for an around the world reason.  I want to know the settings used by the experts.
I know people have mapped with an FPV plane but I haven't seen what the quality looks like.  I assume it's not 100% perfect.  It's probably just easier to rent Google satellites to scan an area w/ enough money.

I mean, it's probably just better to get 4 drones up in the air at the same time for multi-scanning flown by 4 persons of course.

Experts use whatever settings are appropriate for the scene they are shooting in the lighting where they are.
Those settings are going to be different for different locations and light conditions.
If you want to use the settings the experts use, then use whatever settings are appropriate for the scene you are shooting.
If you understood basic photography this would all make sense to you.

I assume it's not 100% perfect.
Here's some free advice:  Whatever you assume is probably not 100% perfect.

I need to try this but what was the shutter speed set to and are you sure it was at 30mph?  You set it to 30mph but on the drone, it could be doing less.  I set 7mph but it says 4mph on the OSD.

One bit of info.....in Post# 8   If you didn't notice,  those are Drone Deploy screens.

In the long legs of the flight, she was doing about 28mph.   The speed shown in both those images, is the RTH speed,  which is 20mph.

Drone Deploy configures the camera "in app" and we have no say regarding anything other than setting ISO/4x3/and Wht Bal in GO4 prior to initiating DD.Shutter speed is an UNKNOWN

That image is really clear for a 28mph shot.  I should be doing this more often then.

Lowering the front overlap for more side makes the full images time lower by a lot.
Switching to 30% front and 80% side from 80% front to 30% side is lower by 20% but I assume the images could come out blurrier due to the speed.

Even your attempted insults are as lame and ineffective as everything else you post.

He's told you multiple times that the camera sets an appropriate shutter speed automatically, not him.
But you keep asking.

Can you pull the metadata from the picture?
Because you can't ?

Do you know anything at all about photography?

That image is really clear for a 28mph shot.  I should be doing this more often then.

Switching to 30% front and 80% side from 80% front to 30% side is lower  by 20%

Your arithmetic is as appalling as your writing.
And where did you get 80% 30% from?  That sounds very unlikely as a default setting.

And you think you can get away with 20% side lap?
Crazy.

but I assume the images could come out blurrier due to the speed.
You've already seen one of his images at 1/500th and commented that it was really clear

You are making assumptions again after I warned you.
You really have no idea what you are doing so don't go making assumptions because you'll be wrong again.

Was that taken at 28mph? 1/500??
You still don't know how to check it do you?

I will try doing the same settings flying at 28mph manually.
You've got someone's secret settings and you'll copy them.
At this rate you're going to be a master by Tuesday.
As you've told us, experience is over-rated.
Copying exposure settings is what it's all about.
There's no need to understand anything.

I can't tell where you are getting that from but DroneDeploy would never suggest 80% 30%.

Set up a basic mission in DD and it has the default values of 65% sidelap and 75% frontlap and a max speed of 34 mph.

20% or 30% is just crazy ... so completely appropriate for you.

As Drone Deploy goes through the check list,  one of the checks is " Configuring Camera"

So as stated here and there,  the shutter is set automatically by the DD app.  Depending on Altitude and overlap, the speed is adjustable......to a point.
