Here is my video, #Summer a funny family in Holidays
where I tried to enclose my quick summer holiday
like the holiday itself, even the video was not planned, every single shot was always improvised, never scene was planned ... becouse , obviously the priority was always the have fun with my children and my wife ...
and then shooting , recording ours memorable travel...
but, I to be honest ... dji osmo pocket and dji mavic air, they has been perfect for this purpose.
I hope you will like it
https://youtu.be/GysC4En-9Wc
As said dji osmo pocket and dji mavic air, they has been perfect for this purpose
both of these dji cameras are small , but big inside ...
4k quality , D-Cinelike and Raw pictures ... everything with a perfect gimbal system ...
I was always able to put all in a small bag.
DJI Osmo Pocket with its waterproof case accompanied me even under the sea ...
DJI Osmo Pocket Extension Rod also helps a lot to make more cinematic movements.
going up from the bottom upwards, going even higher than before.
the holidays place ... Sardinia, Italy ... she is a like European Hawaiian ..
food, colors, wine, people and the SEA ... all very special.
my suggestions:
the first ) undisputed suggestion ... have fun ...
have fun in what you do ... this has been my priority ... without strees in the search for the shot or the scene
I will surely have lost a lot of perfect images, sunsets, time lapses, panoramas , perfect frames ...
I know ... and maybe the lovers and the many video makers will disagree ...
but then again, my priority has been, to have fun together with my family during the few days of vacation ...
and in the end I succeeded ... also getting this short ,( but fantastic for me ) holidays video
second) as you all know ... they are the famous ND filters ... if you haven't yet ...
think that the next upgrade of your equipment should be an ND set filters, especially in the summer.
without it ... will be difficult to slowdown the shutter speed ... so ...
if you like to follow the rules for shutter speed ...
will be better apply a ND Filter on your camera
the rule is clear and simple, the reason for the rule is to have a correct nuance of the movements.
The rule states what the shutter speed should be with respect to the frame rate of the camera.
It is very simple to understand. Just double the frame rate.
If you are shooting at 30 fps (or frames per second), the shutter speed should be set to 60, or 1/60 of a second.
If you are shooting at 24 fps, the shutter speed should be set to 48.
(However, most camera do not have a shutter speed setting of 48 for video, so use the nearest value: 50 )
If you are shooting at 60 fps, the shutter speed should be 120. And so on.
so that ,
you can apply your ND Filter and check shutter speed and if you are near to double of frame per second value
ND 4 could be fine a early morning
ND 8 summer with some clouds
ND 16 evening
ND 32 chould be ok at midday
an polarized ND filter will also help you perceive the transparency of the water ...
eliminating unpleasant reflections
third: for dji osmo pocket,
the extension rod added a myriad of possibilities.
now to make a cinematic movement ... will be extremely easier with it .
for example, set your dji osmo gimbal to maintains horizontal orientation
and through the completely elongated rod try starting from basin height and then raise slowly upwards (you could also add an extension below) to get to the top ...
the movement will be very similar to that performed with a crane, in film movements.
using the rod , with osmo pocket, you can also enter the windows, or pass between people, using them as frames, or go outside the balconies, passing with the camera where you usually could not pass, adding pleasant effects.
fourth: dji waterproof case
we wouldn't even need to talk about it.
of course, in addition to the simplicity of use and stability of images ...
with its small but enough big glass, gave me the opportunity to make those half shots in the water and half out ...
which I like very much.
a suggestion to DJI ...
please, put a protective film on the market as soon as possible
to protect the glass of dji osmo pocket waterproof case ...
unfortunately a single scratch is enough to damage it.
however a tips in the tips ...
the waterproof case can also be used out of the water ...
for example above the roof of the car or outside the window ...
the dji osmo pocket will be completely safe and protected ...
even by the strong wind ... such as on the motorcycle helmet.
camera setting
the videos were shot in D-CLike and almost always with the same white balance value ...
for both dji osmo and mavic too ...
this little trick helped me to better mix all the scenes in the same final video, including drone and osmo.
Easy, but you then , you will need to apply a LUT in post prod .
( if you are in need to understand how use it , please let me know... will more easy of you think about it )
Resolution : 4K
even fi , it is going to take up more space on the memory card, it can give me more room to crop in or edit in post.
ISO : I always have this at 100.
ISO is a digital gain > the more you raise ISO the more likely you are to introduce noise, especially in the shadows.
Sometimes you have to raise ISO if there is not enough available light.
If you choose to do so, just be aware that increasing ISO will introduce greater potential for noise.
frame rate : 60
shutter speed : as already said , the golden rule is to set Set to Double Frame rate.
shooting at 60FPS my shutter Speed is at 1/120th.
the reason to achieve shutter speed double your frame rate, each frame is going to have a blur motion effect which mimics motion the same way our eyes process it in real life,
giving it a more natural or cinematic feel.
You can try it yourself, get your ND filters and check the differences ND FILTER come in, they help reduce light to get shutter speed under control.
mine was not a video made in a professional manner, not planning the scenes, the drone flights, the schedules etc ...
I didn't even have a story to tell in my mind when I was shooting it ...
but the video that came out of it ... will surely be the video we will never delete ...
because the holiday was memorable ... and we all liked the video shot with great simplicity without any stress .
thanks DJI for make me able to do it troughs so simple , small but so professional cameras.
some other additional tips :
as you all know, OSMO Pocket is perfect for creating motion lapse
don't miss the chance to make one ...
adding a 3pod under the rod extension,
you have the possibility to connect the dji osmo pocket with your device,
connecting it to the below USB-C Port
( maybe you can use an small adapter usb/usb-c )
once the motion laps is set ... start recording
therefore, you can disconnect the cable and preserve the phone battery.
the dji osmo pocket, will continue to record your time/motion lapse
personally, set a timer in the phone that will alert me before the time set in the osmo for the time lapse will be ended.
will be even useful, set the saving of video and photos
these, the photographs, will be saved in jpeg ...
but they will be perfect to mount the time lapse in post production with a 4k quality
-----------
travel on small boat with dji camera drone
when you plan to travel on the sea ... like small boat ...
should be better use for your dji camera a waterproofs bag ...
so that , after your drones flight ...
you can put it in its container to protect from hit and then put all inside of waterproof bag ...
----------------------------------
I hope you like it to all of you, that you will be inspired and above all you can have some advice to give me.
let's talk about this ... and will get better together ...
