Greetings everyone!

This is actually my first time ever posting a video here in DJI official forum, so here I am taking a shot at it

I shot the entire footage of this video during my trip to Bali last month to attend my sister's wedding, a long with, of course, tons of drone flying sessions in the beautiful Bali! You will be able to find the following locations in the video:

  • Seminyak Double-Six Beach
  • Sanur Beach
  • Tegalalang Rice Terrace, Gianyar (Near Ubud)
  • Canggu Rice Fields
  • Uluwatu (The wedding)

In the video, I only used the following gears:

  • DJI Spark with Remote Control
  • Canon EOS 6D with 85mm (only in the very first footage of flowers)

I've had the DJI Spark since January 2019 and I find it quite capable for capturing great footage in different weather conditions. For instance, in the Uluwatu footage (the wedding), the wind was quite strong due to the venue's cliff-side location. The Spark nailed this without any problem, of course I was easy on the throttle sticks to maintain the drone as level as possible and did not tilt too much upon accelerating and braking. In Canggu (the wide-open rice fields), I encountered some light morning showers, again, the Spark flew and landed without any problem.

In terms of drone settings, I used strictly manual exposure mode. I used both normal and Sports mode alternatifely depending on the footage I was trying to get.  For wid open spaces, I needed to fly faster to create that sense of movement while still maintaining the vastness of the space by flying higher (within limit, of course).

Another tip, in all of those footage, I strictly do hand-launch and palm-landing only. I never take-off from the ground or land on the ground to minimize the risk of sand get sucked into the motors. I found hand launch and palm-landing on the DJI Spark very handy and useful! You just need to know how to do it properly without hurting yourself from a spinning prop.

I used Apple's FCPX for the post-processing. My workflow is usually as follows:

  • Select a proper song based on mood I want to create in the video and based on the footage collection I shot (cinematic, cheerful, moody, etc)
  • Start stiching footages with the song as the Background Music (BGM), carefully selecting each footage to match the music
  • Matching the footage transition to match the beat of music
  • Adding speed up/speed down/reverse as needed
  • Adjust the brigtness and contrast using FCPX Scope as guideline
  • Color grade to equalize white balance, remove any color cast and create particular tone and manner
  • Adding transitions if needed, for this video I used cut-to-cut only
  • Adding special FX, which I did not have in this video
  • Adding titles
  • Export

I hope I don't bore you to death with the lengthy explanations Thanks for watching and keep flying!
