You just mentioned the perfect reason
I always have a clear UV filter on my lenses.
Better to replace a filter than a front lens
I don't film anything too dangerous that the lens would get damaged.
You never know....
I was filming an old train yard once (not in use anymore) when the lens was hit by a small stone.
Still don't know where it came from, but I was glad I had a UV filter on that I could replace for a small amount.

I don't think a proper natural lens flare could be had if you have a UV filter on it.
