I looked, too, but google just point to a DJI website.

Just ordered mine first ever drone. I was going to go for the Mavic Air but that's a bit expensive for a toy that might get put in a draw after a few weeks.
If all goes well i will upgrade later.

Enjoy your new drone. I own the MA since it became available and continue many flying days, no drawer for it. I also ordered the MM Combo to compliment.

Does anyone know what intelligence it has on board with regards to where you could fly. I was at my sister’s place 2 weeks ago, and the controller would not let me launch the drone. She has a 13 acre farm, and that’s surrounded by farms. The 1st real airport was 30km away. Otherwise just the odd grass strip.

If this is free of the intelligence that prevents this, it would be picked up at BestBuy on Nov 15.

Can any1 tell me how wind resistant it is comparing to Mavic Air?

Hopefully now this is out of the way the team can concentrate on recovering lost goodwill over the Smart Controller and Mavic 2. Pick up on the firmware development for the SC again please DJI. Don't leave a Beta as a last update with no further info.

Have been thinking for a long time to buy me a first drone and so I saw advertising on youtube DJI Mavic Mini and think it is in a price range that appeals to me right now. so it will probably be that I will order one in a couple of weeks.

What do you recommend for MicroSD cards to use? and how big?

just watch the various vids on YT. Wind resistance seems to be very impressive for this little thing

Need to keep in mind the following:

1. Higher pitch blades might be inefficient and could cause the aircraft to stall
2. More blades per prop would require more torque from the motors, which in turn would drain the batteries faster.

I would assume that the number of blades and their geometry was somehow optimized by DJI to get the max use (longest time) from the batteries. Have you noticed how the pirch angle of the blades decreases as you move away from the center? This is done on purpose as the farther you are away from the center, the faster the linear speed with which the blade 'cuts through' the air. Plus, higher pitch angle might cause the blades to vibrate a lot in the lift direction (called aeroelastic flutter). Blade geometry optimization is NOT an easy topic ...
Optimization means: Balancing the various performances, including current required to feed motors, how long a battery lasts, maximum speed attained by drone, mas noise generated by blades ... pick the one that is most important to you

The changes you're proposing would tip that optimum and you'd lose performance elsewhere ... Sprry, but can't cheat the laws of physics!

I've preordered one, hope it will be better this time than the first mavic launch was. I canceled the order after waiting for long time.
I have a questions, can't find the answer:
Can it fly pre-set path with Fly app or any other android / windows app?
Can it fly without stable connection simply following the path (till it gets back close enough)?

PS: videos on youtube are impressive.

If there was Ocusync it would probably kill too many other products in DJI ecosystem.
I would be more than happy to trade 4K camera for Ocusync.  That pretty much means death of MA. Spark died and DJI did not come with Spark 2 name, because of a bit of the stigma due to transmission issues. Mavic on the other hand, has more positive associations. Anyways, MM will sell like a hot cakes. Still thinking, but I guess I will wait two more years for MM2 to appear which finally should be Ocusync + 4K in under 250g.

Yes, i also ordered and it will be a lonnnnng wait !   I hope they will at least release the Fly App in the Apple AppStore before my drone get here!

I read the Mini will do geofencing as well.

I don't understand why not allowing to shoot RAW pictures with Mavic Mini?
There's already a limitation on resolution (4K vs 2.7K) to differentiate between Mavic Air and Mavic Mini, which could be understood by a different hardware.
But ability to shoot RAW pictures is only a matter of software, and that's a pity to have such a limitation on Mavic Mini.
On one hand I understand the commercial limitation, if users want RAW, they have to buy higher-end models, such as Mavic Air/Pro. But on the other hand it means that's not possible for photography enthusiasts who like to travel light  (backpack travels, motorbike trips, etc...) - without having to declare their drone on each visited country (which is THE argument in favor of the Mavic Mini), to be able to carry a drone that can shoot on RAW.
And that' really too bad
I was really excited when Mavic Mini has been announced, it was fitting nearly all my requirement to take the step and finally buy a drone, but this limitation is really annoying me...
Wouldn't be possible to unlock this limitation on RAW files on a future firmware?

This is the drone i have been looking for.


I do hope they add Goggle suport for FPV like the spark.
