Great stuff!
Even if it only lasts real usable 25 min, its a big improvement over the Spark.
I wonder if it can be flown with the Spark's R/C? DJI anyone?

Cheers,

Looks very good.
I have to see if the manual video mode will be there.
And if it supports 25 / 50 fps shooting.

25 is good for me too.
As long as it is not stuck in 30 / 60 fps.
That would suck for me as an european user.

Wow. Kelly did a great job not spilling the beans at Spinup!

Interesting:

* 249 grams : That gets under a lot of regulations! (Don't worry, regulations can change.)
* 30 minute flight time: Way cool
* 3 axis gimbal: Yes!
* 2.7k camera: Not a big issue here, I mainly shoot youtubes anyhow.
* 500USD price point : VERY attractive

I dunno. Might be flying a mini before long. Would like a bigger occusync drone that can get out farther, but this costs like a quarter as much.

in the app was (in some videos) at least 25/30 fps shown, in 2.7k settings.
Since the Mini should be able to film 1080/60, I assume there is a 1080/50, too

Nice.. I think I will stick with my spark until it won't fly anymore though.
A couple questions:

What is up with the two different battery capacities and does the fly more combo come with the bigger battery?

Can you use the remote without the cable to the phone using wifi or only with the cable?
Can an iPad mini fit in the remote just like on the spark remote?

And, why so many spare screws?  Does it shed screws in flight?  LOL

Lastly... why yet another app.. I have DJI Go 4 for spark... DJI Go for Osmo mobile .. and DJI Mimo for Osmo pocket.. now if I want this one I need another app!  DJI is trying to sell phone upgrades!

A couple questions:

Regarding the phone Apps, I think it would be better to have a different App per type of drone in order to make the DJI Go 4 less bulky and probably more responsive.

Trouble is all the DJI apps are bulky and sluggish. And they don't do a good job of cleaning up after themselves using a bunch of your phone memory for things like cached images and video. The easiest way to get that memory back is to delete and reinstall the apps.

I catch myself on comparing Mini do Mavic Air (as the latter is the only DJI product I own). So 4k videos to 2.7k is still very good, especially given Mavic Mini price. The 4km range is awesome (dunno what is it in Mavic Air - I've never tested it). The battery up to 30 minutes is amazing. So isn't Mini a better quality-to-price product than Mavic Air? Cuz I mostly see only pros. Maybe the only cons would be its weight? as lighter means less wind resistant I reckon?! What you guys think?

No front, back and side sensors. It won't take long for the <250 g to become a non-issue.

I don't get some Spark owners, the Mavic Mini is literally 95% of what everyone was SSOOOO desperate for in a 'Spark 2' and it seems to be getting a lukewarm reception at best! If i was a first time drone buyer it would be far and away the drone i'd be going for.

These batteries are probably for other countries with more strict weight limits.

Yeah, I wonder why.
Maybe for the prop guards?
Guess Go4 has too much legacy code that it was more easy to make a fresh app.
It is sometimes more easy to start from scratch

You won't get 4km in CE area.
Max 2Km (but that is only without any interference)
Connection is going to be an issue in CE area's I suspect.

Yeah, the Mini will be way less powerful and one of the reviews (I believe it was from Peter) they stated it took a (much) longer time to fly back.
So you have to pay attention to the wind when you fly somewhere and keep enough juice in the battery for the return.

Looks great! I fly safely as well, but it's nice to have sensors for peace of mind. Also, the mini doesn't have object tracking (although I think I've only used that once). Very happily surprised with the price.

my guess , with the new app, is:

This way, in the code IS NOTHING, that DJI don't want the bird to do, but the one or the other hack could let it!
We will have to wait for litchi, if they can offer more .
But that will need about a year, till the first birds are out of warranty, me guess!

DJI Go4 has been around for a longer time now, so there is probably a lot of older code (called legacy code) that is not practical to work with anymore if you want to develop a whole new UI.
So in that case you are better off with a new app.

You are right!:

Definition
The term “UA/Drone” means any airplane, rotorcraft, glider or airship which cannot accommodate any person on board and can be remotely or automatically piloted (Excluding those lighter than 200g. The weight of a UA/Drone includes that of its battery.).

https://www.mlit.go.jp/en/koku/uas.html

And there they are:

Yep, perhaps.

But since the P4 , ALL consumer drones are in there.
Spark, Mavic Pro, Air, 2
Just the Mini gets a new app, with a lot less functionality
Probably two flies in one catch, huu?

I still think that one reason is: Less activation options of "known" features from the Air and Spark.
You remember the discussions about "can we have this and that, The mavic has it, the air has it, the mod 2.0 let the spark do it, too!
How would a Mini be seen, if it can do 20 minutes missions?

I mean, who need to buy the air, then?
Longer airtime and 2.7k, and all the flight modes of the air available, but cheaper?
That would be the "Air-Killer"
