This is part one of some Halloween and urban exploration.
Sandträsk Sanatorium
The infectious disease tuberculosis, also called tbc and lung disease, was widespread
in Sweden in the early 1900s and Norrbotten hit hard. At the turn of the century
the disease annually harvested about 500 victims in the county. Up to every third death
was due to tuberculosis in the county's most affected areas.
On September 14, 1913, Sandträsk sanatorium was inaugurated with room for 88 patients. They were mainly cared for in
the then newly built "big pavilion", also called Torpet. In that building they were probably used
seating that is on the stage in the library.
Now this place is abandoned and it's a cool place for some Urban Exploration.
There is tours and you can also walk alone as well if you dare to.
