No, this video has been making with my EX drone.
I sold it last year because of no time to use it and just sitting there.
The new owner has make some modifications on the drone so it can go faster, higher and more power.
I just like to share the nice view. (and yes it is not legal)
The location he test it I know and it thing it’s a safe place, no people or houses at takeoff and landing place (also been using for RC helicopters and airplanes).
So this is the story behind the video.

Good thing the law does not rely on what we think

Not saying it is not safe, it is just illegal and I would not promote it.
Others who don't know or care about safe might use it as an example.
Unfortunately not everybody is that smart but everybody can buy / fly a drone.
You can see such stupidity every day on various drone groups on FB.

But that is also my opinion of course

doesn't matter,.. there's an old saying:  "stupid is as stupid does"   and "you can't cure stupid"  it one of the trustest dumb american saying i have heard..    if someone is committed to doing something stupid... then well its too late already.  


i dont think someone flying their drone safely over 5000 feet up in middle of nowhere with no air traffic above or around them is going to be a deciding factor.   because that would require way too much thinking for a stupid person..  they be going for it reguardless

On a clear day i can see VK, …...
For what I see on the DJI map this guy is outside the NFZ, at his takeoff place there is no warning.

It's not just about what is below the drone, all it takes is for a plane/helicopter to not see the drone in time and take out an aircraft. if your below 400ft your underneath the minimum height of  flying aircraft, that would make your chances of hitting a craft basically 0% unless your flying at an airport/landing site which you shouldn't be. While flying at 5k feet it is unlikely you would hit an aircraft(the sky is a big place), but it's not impossible and it would be peoples lives that are at risk, the drone doesn't have any form of transponder or radar detection and is basically an spec of dust which a pilot is unlikely to spot. So no it's not safe or legal.

Yes but RC planes don't normally fly at 5000ft, thats reserved air space for real planes.

That would have been a cool implementation of the 'spotter' requirement you have in certain area's

Based on the height it had to have taken off from the ground,  as the height shown is height above take off point.

Not 100% correct, you can stay on the ground with the controller and give the drone with a person in the balloon. Then it will give you this reading because the controller stays on the ground and the drone is up in the air.

Only if you took the props off and started the motors first.  Its the same trick people do to fake their distance covered.
