I almost think that they're violating some consumer laws in US / Canada - where they are preventing people from LEGALLY using their OWN property - I wonder if that's at least a civil tort in some way, and a violation of consumer protection laws?
In Canada, drones under 250g are not subject to any restrictions on flying, except for one rule that's essentially common sense - don't put people or aircraft in danger through recklessness. At least that's how I understand it...
Why would DJI then prevent a person from using their Mavic Mini in their backyard, just because it's in some arbitrary "blue" zone?? Those zones don't actually align with Transport Canada zones, for heavier drones that fall under the regulations!
The only appropriate solution for Canada users is a warning prompt: "You're flying 3KM from an airport, stay below 150M", etc...
If I want to look at a roof of a house 20 feet up, 2 miles from an airport, I should be able to! It's fully legal in Canada for the Mavic Mini! |
