Update.
Tried in manual mode as stonev proposed. True, fewer crashes/restarts.
But my Note 8 still has restarted a couple of times. It´s an improvement, since before (in AUTO mode), it was crashing/restarting each time when communication was reestablished.

DJI fix this, I will go and return my drone. This is horrible!

i doubt it, there the auto is real auto, it changes channels and frequencies. but now the phone restarts without loosing connection when i use manual mode... sometimes when the drone connects to the RC at the beginning, other times when i switch batteries and it connects to the RC after going online.

Galaxy S8, stock firmware, randomly restarts when using app, but apparently can sometimes be triggered by:
1) degrading connection then drone connection loss: had that reported by OSI today, but somehow I don't think that's the cause, but rather the symptom, because the drone was responsive to controller commands throughout the instance
2) turning on the controller while it's plugged to the phone. Phone will do many things at once (screen lights up, usb connection established, usb charging established, app autostarting), but will fail to unlock the first time around that I swipe the screen, followed usually by a short freeze and a restart.

I purchased an Osmo ... And the app is very bad for Android. I think their development team is not so skilled. Then I returned that product also.

It also happened to me around 5 times with the Samsung S8 and a mavic mini and also to a friend on his Air 2.
It always occured when loosing the signal, but I also lost the signal sometimes without crashing the phone.
Network selection was only automatic so far and I will check if I still see it in manual mode.
Crazy that this issue is know already for so long and still is not fixed. Beside this, the quality of the App is really good and sophisticated, so I am surprised they did not fix this by now.....

It always happens to me. I don't think DJI is interested in solving it.
I can't change the phone, I suffered to buy the Samsung Note 8.
In Brazil it is very expensive. To much tax.

it won't be fixed, they don't care as not too many people have this issue and is difficult to reproduce and identify. And perhaps they have no idea how to fix it. we will have to live with. It happens really rarely in manual mode so far i can tell, hence i am using it mainly like that.

Have you tried to update the iOS and the app? May be these will help:
1.        Update the iOS and the app to the latest version
2. Force Restart iPhone to Fix iPhone
3. Fix iPhone x stuck in boot loop with iOS System Recovery
If that doesn't work, then your best choice is to take advantage of a third-party iOS system repair utility like TunesKit iOS System Recovery.
4. Using iTunes to Fix
Step 1. Connect your iPhone to the computer using the USB that comes with it and launch iTunes. You may need to ensure that the iTunes installed on your computer is the latest version.
Step 2. Tap on the device icon from the top of the interface.
Step 3. Find the Summary tab and then press the Restore iPhone button. Wait for iTunes to download the latest iOS if your iPhone is running an older version.
Step 4. Choose a backup file you want from the new pop-up and hit the Restore option.
5. Head to Apple's Support Center to Fix. If you can not fix still, maybe you need to ask for Apple for help.

I have a Samsung S8+ and having a similar problem problem.
More or less about 20 minutes after the second battery usage on the Mavic Mini, the S8+ disconnects and reboots.
It happened to me for the second time.
I noticed it only happens when I have the the "Airplane mode" selected.
