Hello Everyone,

I put together a video of footage from my first few flights with the Mavic Mini. All the footage was shot at 2.7K @ 30fps but uploaded to YouTube at 1080p. Habit. The point was to show what kind of results you can expect from this new offering from DJI.


All the footage is straight out of the camera. No post-processing work whatsoever. I shot in a number of different lighting scenarios so you can see how well it handles exposure and colour balance. I did make extensive use of the auto exposure lock and EV (exposure compensation) settings but generally I found the Mini did a great job of determining exposure and correct colour.

Hey man, in about to do mi 1st flight too but my mini is charging for 3h now and the lights are still blinking.
Do you have any idea how long it takes to fully charge for 1st time?

In the charger it will do three batteries in 4.5 hours. It charges one at a time. I would guess it should be about 1.5 hours for one. 3hr seems too long.

This is my first drone, was looking for a drone that was < 250g and I'm not disappointed. I ordered my mavic mini without the combo as it was showing delivery by end of December for the combo. I'll get a battery ordered later. May I ask what settings do you generally keep for the camera?

Wow! That looks great! All the footage I shot was 2.7K @ 30fps but I scaled it down to 1080p for YouTube. While shooting, I always use exposure lock and may tweak the EV (exposure value) a bit too if I think auto didn't get it quite right. Have fun with your Mini and safe flying!

Beautiful shots and very cinematic. From the few shots I've seen with the MM in the snow, it really handles the exposure well retaining plenty of detail without washing out. Great job!

Thanks! Yeah, I was surprised that AE and AWB did such a good job. I was making extensive use of EV (exposure compensation) and AE lock but in general it did a good job of determining a proper exposure. Quite impressed really.

Your efforts were certainly rewarded with some perfectly exposed shots. The whites are spot on and there is plenty of detail in the shadows. I know the tiny sensor in the Mini isn't the best in terms of dynamic range but you would never know it from your video. Kudos on a splendid job!
