Hey JJB, I've seen in a few of your posts that you have .dat support in FRAP but I can't find anywhere to view it. Do you have an update for FRAP by chance that includes .Dat support or a way to load csv's from datcon?

Thanks.

Hiya,

Almost ready, add some checks into FRAP on DATdata, so its easy to check for 'abnormalities'.
Hoping to finish this update next week.

Hi JJB,

I would like to know if ti is normal that when I try to import a txt file downloaded from my Iphone Using Itunes, I have to convert it with TXTlogToCSV manually.
When trying to open it with FRAP directly, I have an error message and after converting it with the tool I can open it.
although, I usually have an error message telling me that the range is not good (I guess it comes from the date).

Thank you for your feedback.

PS : I have opened the DAT file analyser but as I don't really understand how it works and what I can do with it I can't give you a feedback on it

cheers.

PM send.

DAT file analyser, if you load  a file, is just what it is. See all the values, events, rpm and errors.

if i have time will make a 'how to use it' video.

I'm new to drones so I'm probably just doing something wrong. I have a Mavic Mini and I've downloaded the log file (DJIFlightRecord_2020-08-07_[11-54-45].txt in this instance) from my iPhone. When I try to open it in FRAP with the [MM | MA2] option, I get a message saying "File [DJIFlightRecord_2020-08-07_[11-54-45].txt ] not converted into CSV file. [Maybe illegal character in TXT file name (rename file) OR Path+Filename too many characters]".  I've tried renaming the file to 1.txt with the same result. What am I doing wrong?

Hi vortex19,

Most likely your maps are to down nested....

The map where the logs are stored should be close to the root, i.e.  x:\FRAP\txtfiles

Hi vortex19,

I've resolved the problem! I was trying to be clever calling the root folder D:\Flight Record Analysis. Changing it to D:\FRAP fixed it. Many thanks for the program (and the quick response).

Hey JJB,

thank you for your very useful program.

With some log files the field Serial number in the window: Batt cell values > Battery health is displayed correctly, with some others log files I get a character mismatch. All other text infos are ok, only in the field Serial number I can see the problem. Unfortunately, I cannot say what it depends on. Just this: it does not depend on a specific serial number. I have saved all log files with the in the same way, so I do not assume that is a character set problem of my log files. See:

Thanks for the answer. I have sent you an email.

First quick check,  in your screenshot no picture of the current drone is visible (top right),

Before the first loading a pop up message is seen, or [ MM / MA2] / [ Other DJI drones ]
As you have a MA you need to click the [ Other ..] button.

Max records of 17000 has to do with memory, never a problem but now some DJI drones can fly for 30 minutes....i will change this as an option in the new version.

Never mind, we all make mistakes.
And i removed the 17000 limit, its now 18000 or no limit (change default settings)

Soon update, as DAT data is correct to import in FRAP, almost there....

Hi stupid question, how do i import files to FRAP?

Hi,

Install FRAP (read the readme.txt)
Put your flightrecord.txt [original format like "DJIFlightRecord_2020-05-01_[17-04-24].txt"]  in a map
Select this map in FRAP
Click on the flightrecord ....

Hi JJB.

Really a fantastic piece of software.
Gives a whole new dimension to the flying.
Many thanks for making this available.

One question thou:
I keep seeing a message "NoControlUp / Down".
What does this mean?
Is something wrong, should I take notice?

Hi JJB.

Really a fantastic piece of software.

Hi XBower,
Happy that you like FRAP, already add a DAT file into FRAP? (great to see wind data...and more DAT events)

Your question: FRAP software does a check on each record on uncontrolled Up and Down movements ; it will check current baro height and with no up/down RC stick command height should not change the next few records. (some delay after input to zero stick is taken into account)

Ofcourse it will go up/down a little, normal behaviour.
So if you check this option and the NoControlUp/Down is only momentarily; no problem. If this message is there for many records in sequence ; than check this and find out by checking other values ect if it is an 'error' or not.

For a MM and MA2 in the messages menu you will see all kind of FRAP logic check values, in the Option menu checked that option and the values are seen on the main screen and in the Flight Summary.

If you doubt your log, just sent it to me. (how to contact me : in FRAP)

cheers

Hi JJB

So latest DJI Fly 1.2.2 is no longer compatible with FRAP? just tried with 8.6.5 and appears to come up with a whole heap of errors and weird data.

Will this be something you can support or have DJI encrypted the data?

Cheers

1.2.2 uses a other encryption....so FRAP cannot read flightlogs from 1.2.2.

I use 1.2.1, nothing wrong with this version. (apart from missing batt cell values ; wich are important to monitor safe battery usage)

Hey JJB,
I've a question but first thank you very much for the programm. I've bought a MM with a fall damage on ebay. I started to repair it. There is still an error message "fault power supply code 30210". I like to take a look at the flight log to see which electronic part is defective. I've downloaded the flight log on my computer but it is a Dat.file. How can I open this in your software?

Best regards

Hi Moriz,  wich FlyApp version do you use ?

DAT files from the drone cannot be read. On your mobile device you will find flightlog.txt and a FLY***.DAT file.
But i do not think that in the DAT is written wich part is defective.
