today i fly the mavic mini and noticed i had forgotten my sd card at home
i saw that without sd card there is no rht, only land (gps locks)
has this happened to others?

I don't know as I've ever tried to initiat RTH without SD card installed. It's been raining like crazy here so I can't test at the moment. If the rain subsides sometime today, I will test and report back my findings. Anyone else that is able to test, please do. I wouldn't want to think that RTH is dependant on an SD card being installed in order to work.

At 24 meters away, did the mini just not do anything or did it initiate a landing instead of RTH?

when i pressed the return button it only land

that's because you weren't far enough, did you read what George posted for you?

They are correct with the altitude and distance with rth and landing. If you have the opportunity, test again at a further distance and let us know please.

i have now tried 30 meters high and 25 meters distance as before and took the rht
I don't know why he didn't take the first flight rht

So are we to think that the RTH worked on your latest attempt? The one at 30 m altitude and 23 m distance? Not knowing the altitude of your first flight w/RTH attempt, that is a hard one to say why the second attempt worked and the first didn't. Have you performed calibrations of compass/IMU in a good environment?

correctly both flights were without sd card and same altitude and distance
every time before I fly I make calibrations
imu did before 3 days

Without looking at flight logs, in which I am not well versed yet, I would be lead to think perhaps it wasn't locked onto enough sats perhaps. Or possibly some sort of interference. Of course that would just be conjecture at this point.

If I remember correctly you must "press and hold" like a second for RTH, a quick tap only "pauses" the drone, you can pause while doing Quick shots, or if someones starts talking to you...
Test it out.
