Yes, i was able to get approval for one night flight so far. The mini did pretty well but the flight plan was cut a little short that night. I have that flight posted on here somewhere.

Hopefully when the sun rises on all it will be sorted and if not, look straight up to check if the sky has fallen in, I expect for some it will .

my understanding is no you are not restricted from night flights as a recreational pilot in the u.s.  i am not aware of any rules against it.

i fly alot a night.  very difficult with the mavic mini but strobes help.  usually i start flying during the daylight but when it started getting dark, i had more batteries so i kept going.

however, i once tried to submit recreational laanc after twilight and was rejected for that reason.

I did the anti collision light as well. Lume cube I believe was the name of it. I borrowed it off a buddy of mine that does that stuff for his job with the police.

Just wondering: Did you register because you are over 250 grams with some add-ons, or you do have to register in the States even under 250 grams? (Here in Canada you don't have to register and don't have to get a pilot licence if the bird is under 250 grams).

In US we don't have to register under 250g drone, but must obey all other rules

And that is exactly what I am going to do as soon as my strobe light arrives from Firehouse... But here besides registration you also have to get at least a Basic level pilot certificate - which I have already obtained.
