I tried to search for a topic on this but did not find anything useful. We have all seen the published compatibility lists for the Mini controller and the Fly app, but I have a phone on the list, LG G6, that does not work with the Mini controller. I have read many posts on this and other forums about others having connection issues with that brand and other brands/models.

I think it would be useful to have a user feedback topic on which phones are truely compatible and not. It would be of use to the owners and the company as well.
What do you guys think? I will start with my experience with the LG G6: It connects on random attempts, maybe 2-3 times out of 100 tries. It seems to work well enough once connected. I have tried all the usual recommendations, to no avail. I now have on order a Samsung S6 and will provide feedback here after I try it.

Can you guys provide a brief post here noting the phone(s) you have tried lately and whether they work or don't? It might be more helpful to limit the discussion to connection ability and not other issues yet.

What? Can you translate please?

In the page you posted it says the LG G6 works for DJI Fly and I can say that is pure B/S. So... We need a realistic list from real world users.

The opinions of real users are reflected in the "DJI App" column as percentages and unfortunately there are no users with your device.

Also, 2 of the devices listed above by users as working are reported as NOT working for the Fly app. So there are two more errors in that list.

The issue is not one of pure compatibility, nor is it one of one user working so they all work (or vice versa).

For example, my Samsung Galaxy Pure is a 64-bit machine...but my network isn't, so the DJI Fly app will not even finish installing.  Some people with Samsung Galaxy S10 + will work on Android 9, but not on 10. Others do work, and it is most likely which network they are on.

I suggest a more useful survey would A) use the survey/questionnaire form or block, and B) ask not only the type of phone/tablet, but whether it is 64 bit or not, and (KEY) which cellular network they are on.

Just the phone type info is relatively useless, but phone, android and ARM version, 64 or no, and cellular provider might reveal some useful information...for those willing and bale to interpret it.

My G6 works perfectly fine. I use it over my Pixel 3 as the case on it gets in the way of the RC arms. The G6 has a bit bigger higher resolution display, so that helps a little with flight.

If your LG G6 is android 8.0, that may be the problem.  Works with 7.0.  DJI is aware of the problem.

LG V20 with Android 8.0 does NOT work even though it's listed as compatible.   iPhone 6 and iPhone 11 both work for me.

Xiaomi redmi note 7 (not on the list) works fine. I didn't update the OS and the UI (someone reported that after the update the app didn't work anymore) but it's not a problem as I use the phone just to fly the drone.

Interesting. It is Android 8.0. But I am already returning it so I won't bother running it back to 7. Thanks.

Once you know the make and model, don't you already know whether it is 64 bit? The LG G6 is 64 bit but doesn't work.

Does the cell network (none for me) matter if the app installs but won't initially connect to the controller most of the time?

As far as I've read, you can have devices with 64 bits chipset running 32 bits Android OS: this configuration doesn't work. You need both the chipset and the OS running at 64 bits, to begin with. The problem is that you can find infos on the hardware very easily, but nowhere you can read if the OS is 32 or 64. Just hang around the forum and hope to get exact informations.

You can also check here:

https://www.phantomhelp.com/tips ... go-updated-daily.18

About the network, you need an internet access (wifi or cell network) to activate your drone the first time. Afterwards it's not required anymore.

You may need for maps downloading or FW upgrading

Thanks for that tip. Using Antutu, it looks like my L6 has the 64 bit Android 8.0.

I downloaded an app called 64Bit Checker From the Play Store.  It seems easy to discover architecture before purchase, but not so much OS.  I wonder if there's another app in the world that requires 64 bit?

Samsung S8 Active and Samsung Note 8.

I was doing a little tech support for one of my customers and had his iPad 10 7th generation today so I figured why not.

With the exception of the cable being way too short it worked great. The app filled the entire screen with a little letterboxing happening (small black bars) at the top and bottom due to the aspect ration being different on an iPad compared to a phone.

I may have to pick up an iPad because it's a little easier on my old eyes.

All that being said the cables that come with the Mini are designed in such a way that I have to remove the protective case on all my devices to get it to plug in securely. I may have to get a straight OTG cable so I can leave my case on.

Thanks to everyone who have so far responded with this useful information. I am impressed with the number of responses in such a short time. And I think it may be more useful since it is current. I am pretty sure that other lists are somewhat dated. It only takes a few weeks for software/firmware to become obsolete ;-) Also thanks for the additional information about data width and O/S revisions. I don't remember seeing any of that information anywhere else. Sometimes it is key.
