I successfully unlocked using the new firmware and the 1.0.4 App on day one this lasted 24 hours. On Day 3 I had to unlock again and it said unlocked but the red light was still on and it would not allow takeoff..... The issue was that my phone signal was only 3g and not up to the job of connecting to the internet.
So in simple terms if the Tablet or phone you are using as a screen is not connected to the internet it will not unlock even though it says it has.
If you are going somewhere where you might need to unlock a zone but the internet connection might be bad look on the DJI fly safe website and unlock their before you travel. This unlock lasts 72 hours from midnight on the First day you select.
Also remember that the flight controler Seriel number is the one you need to input on the website not the Remote control (RC) seriel number.

It is also important to arm the motors by the 2 sticks in a down methob dont use the lift off icon on the screen.

I am still experimenting with the MM Self Unlock, and still not sure if the incorrect serial number allows actual unlocking. If you want to know what DJI sees as your serial number, you can see it under devices in the DJI store app...

Definitely helpful info for me when I go out, the phone reception is patchy at best so this'll be very handy. Cheers.

It is not the AC Serial number you need it is the Flight Controller serial number

The AC (Aircraft) ……….. It is not this one

The FC (The Flight Controller) Inside the drone you cannot see this.... THIS IS THE SERIEL NUMBER YOU NEED. THIS IS SHOWN IN THE ABOUT SECTION IN THE APP

When you go to the unlocking step, the window on the left side actually shows you the FC Serial Number to enter. You don't even have to look it up.
