I have Zero faith or trust in DJI at the moment.
It briefly allowed me to fly and just as I took off it changed back to red and crashed into the side of my house. So now the props are trashed and one of the arms is broken.
I live in the BWI Blue zone. When I first got my Mini, I was unable to start the motors here at the house. I took the drone to a location outside the Blue area & was able to fly. Now that the firmware & app have been updated I am able to self-unlock & fly here at home. I did what I had to do to enjoy the Mini. When the P4 was released I got mine a week early. Alas, I had to stare at it for a week before DJI updated Go so I could fly it. C'est la vie...
I understand you have crashed your Mini & you are frustrated & upset. Having authorization from FAA doesn't mean you have authorization in the Fly app. In what format is your FAA authorization? How is the Fly app supposed to know this? Unless there was some recent change to the flight zones for your area, there is no reason your drone could fly a few days ago but can't fly now.
If I had to make an educated guess, it would be you managed to get off the ground because you powered on the bird & lifted off before it achieved a GPS lock. The bird didn't realize it was in a restricted zone until it obtained a GPS fix. It was already in the air, realized it was in a restricted area, & reacted in a way that lead to a crash. I can't say this with absolute certainty, but I invite you to post your flight log via the PhantomPilots link & the flight log gurus will ascertain what actually happened. The flight data is on your phone should you care to share it.
I sympathize with your frustration & I'm sorry your drone crashed. I hope DJI fixes it up for you. The Mini is a new product. There is a lot of technology involved &, as those of us who have been around the drone hobby for a while know, there are often issues & quirks when new models are released. Don't get discouraged. |
