My 2019 highlights undoubtedly have to be the great trips I’ve taken this year with my Osmo Pocket.
I’ve said it in the past, but I’ll say it again: the Osmo Pocket is a fantastic little travel camera. So very portable and really unobtrusive.
Amsterdam, as everyone knows, is a great city. The Dutch are really warm, friendly and welcoming. What I wanted to explore for this trip was the old and the new Amsterdam. There is an abundance of surprisingly modern architecture which I went out specifically to capture.
I’m a big believer in less is more when filming. For this film, I only used the Osmo Pocket and an iPhone. No filters/no tripods etc. However I do think that a relatively decent video editor is essential. Whichever one it is, spend a small amount of time learning and some meh footage is quite easy to turn into ‘yeah’. You can also export in interesting ratio aspects such as this one, which looks a little anamorphic (obviously isn't but preferable to slapping on black bars).
This was edited in Final Cut Pro, in a 24fps timeline. I filmed everything in 24fps except clips I wanted to slow down (they were filmed on 60fps), all in 4K.
