Recently ordered a new tablet Samsung Tab A 8" (2019).
Model with S-pen (SM-P205)
The tablet arrived today and works perfect with Fly App and Mavic Mini! Allelujah!
SM-P205 is model with LTE simslot
SM-P200 is only wifi (I assume this will also work)
Both these tablets are not available in Europe!
I ordered this model at ebay and was shipped from Hong-Kong.
These S-pen tablets have 3gb ram.
Europe models SM-T290 (wifi) and SM-T295 (LTE) are also Samsung Tab A 8" (2019), but only 2gb ram.
(Both these models are also much cheaper)
So not sure if these will also run the Fly App.
Mounting adapter for rc and longer OGT cable are on the way.

I just picked one up too and it's working for me as well (wifi only). Not the best tablet in the world, but capable enough. This tablet (in my possession anyhow) has ARM 8.1 and a 64bit Snapdragon processor running Android 9. I did my homework and crossed my fingers that it would work.

It seems to be very long and will not fit into the regular mount of the remote.

I suppose you have model SM-T290?
So we can confirm SM-T290 and 295 will also work.
I choose to go for the more expensive 3gb S-pen version. Giving it a better chance to work.
If only I would have known...
The 3gb version is double price over the 2gb!
But very happy it's working.

Adjustable clip for phone and tablet.

I would also buy one too, the 5 inch phone is too hard on the eyes, do you know if this will work also on the dji go 4?, as I ordered a mavic pro zoom yesterday, ans would like to use it on that too?

What model would you like to buy?
SM-T290 / SM-T295?
or

Maybe open a topic in other forums and ask if the model works with Go4 app.

I can only speak for model 200 and 205 running the Fly app.
According CarRamRod his 290 is also running the Fly App.
Big chance all models will also run Go 4.
I checked Google Play store on my 205 and Go 4 pops up and can be installed.
If a device is not able to run Go 4, the app will simply not pop up after searching.

Just to be clear, I did have to side-load the DJI Fly app and download it from the DJI website. It did not show up in the Play Store. It does not quite fit in the RC unfortunately. Didn't want to buy a tablet holder until I knew it would work. I did buy an extension cable, that was going to be a given.

Than the best way is to check other forums with Go 4 users and look for other Tab A 8" users.
Or just do the way we did: buy a device and hope for the best!

Very not convenient, heavy, poorly holds long 8 inch tablets. And even worse for Mavic Pro and 2, closes the remote screen!

I know this will not firmly fit the 8 inch tablet.
Let's see when it arrives. I'll find a solution.
MM controller has no display, so no problem with that ;-)

No idea yet. Still waiting for rc-mounting and longer otg cable. Will report later. And no weather to fly at the moment. The MM would be lost in 5 seconds. To windy out here. I will take only the tablet outside tomorrow and check the screen.

Just to be clear.  There is not just 1g  of ram that is different between these models.
Imho the difference for drone flying is huge.
The p200/205 has an octo core processor and an usb c port.
There 295 suffers from lag because of the older transfer pretty and the smaller processor.
Also the 209's have a way better screen.

Me too, an SM-T290 (in the USA). I bought a 12" right angle cable and routed it through the left clamp and under the tablet to keep it out of the way. Far brighter than my Samsung phone.
There is one minor drawback and that is because it it not approved by DJI and so the app will not directly install from the online store. You have to install the apk file from DJI when it becomes available (or from another source)

One major drawback is the inability to view/edit non-cache (downloaded) video files.

My SM-T290 will not play downloaded files via DJI, Samsung Video, Google Photos, or VLC.

They play via MX only.

Very inconvenient for anyone hoping to edit on tablet and probably why it is not on the approved DJI list.

For flying I am weighing the pros and cons vs the 10.1" Onn which is bigger but less bright.

Might step up to S6 Lite which is supposedly 500 nits (A8 is 377 nits, Onn appears to be under 300).

There are many mount options on Amazon for the DJI Mini 2 controller and then I went to Best Buy to get a longer data USB C cable.

Do not bother with the Tab A. It is very slow and not capable of doing the job anymore.
