Was curious if we are able to connect action camera to phone with out Wi-Fi?
Not every place when traveling has Wi-Fi, so if I wanted uploaded a picture or short video to my IG page how can I if I am not connected to WiFi? Any answers for this? I thought the blue tooth solves this problem?

Hi, thank you for bringing this query to us. The only way we can connect the DJI Osmo Action to a mobile device with a DJI Mimo app is through WiFi. Thank you for your understanding and support!

1) Record the file
2) Connect DJI MIMo (iOS or Android phone in this case?) with Osmo using WIFI and download the file to your device using MiMo
3) Turn Osmo/WiFi off
4) Use cellular signal from phone/hotspot to upload the file to Insta/internet

"Not every place when traveling has Wi-Fi,"That's fine because you don't need anyone else's WiFi, you can use your cellular signal to upload to the internet (instead of someone's wifi).

You only use WiFi to transfer the file, before uploading.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding the problem, if so my apologies!

You don't need any router. You simply need WiFi on your mobile phone and on your Osmo to establish an ad-hoc connection between those.

You can, in fact that’s the only way to transfer a file: except that it’s a 2 step process, use Osmo WiFi to transfer the file to the phone. Then use cellular or a WiFi hotspot to upload.

But I see what your saying, you want to do both in one step and that’s not possible (and probably will never be).

Hi, I totally understand your point. However, we don't have that feature as of the moment, you can use your cellular data for you to upload a file to your social media platforms. Also, I will take this as a suggestion and will forward it to our designated department for attention. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Theres no need for a Hotspot. Simply turn on your WiFi on your phone and on your Osmo and establish a normal ad-hoc connection between those.
If it doesn't connect properly, change the WiFi Settings in the Osmo to 2.4 GHz only.

Also make sure, that your Android/iOS doesn't disconnect from WiFi, when there's no internet connection in the connected WiFi-Network. On Android you can disable something like "automatic network-change"

Yea I find this absolutely ridiculous really. GoPro you can connect to the app without wifi and through Bluetooth and your phones own internet. These are action camera. Most people are using these outdoors where wifi isn't available. So to make a app to connect to a camera that you NEED wifi is a major downfall. Makes the app useless. They should really fix this massive mistake. The app would help me a lot in the monster truck world bc I could start and stop recordings by using the app. But most events and venues I go to do not have wifi. So again, makes the app completely useless

You can connect with your DJI mimo action 4 through your phones internal wifi I did just that to test the method. It worked. My WiFi on phone is on, but no internet service provider is connected. Means no internet. Means no Google search or map.
But still if your wifi is on with 4 semicircular wifi symbol is lighted, then it connects with the Action 4 alongwith Bluetooth.
I changed the settings in my mobile to make 'auto connection off ' and then I switched off my wifi to get it disconnected from my internet service provider. Then I switched on the wifi again. This time it did not auto reconnect to internet due to change in settings. But still it got connected Action 4. Try it.
@dji admin - please explain this feature properly in your responses.
