Drones can take flight from public parks, Flint-area judge rules
"GENESEE COUNTY, MI -- A Flint-area judge has ordered the Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission to end its ban on the possession or use of drones in county parks, a ruling that the Michigan Coalition of Drone Operators is describing as precedent-setting and the first of its kind in the state. Circuit court Judge Joseph Farah granted an injunction Monday, Feb. 10, forbidding enforcement of the county’s drone ordinance, a ruling tied to a lawsuit filed by the operators group in 2019."
"MCDO called the judge’s ruling a victory that “will likely have a nationwide impact" in states that have local restrictions on the operation of drones. “The crux of the case is that Genesee County was regulating unmanned aircraft while Michigan law clearly reads that local governments shall not do this ... Harrison contended all along that the rangers lacked the authority to make such an arrest or to enforce local drone ordinances.”"
Surprise is FAA didn't lead Lawsuit against Genesee Country Parks & Recreation Commission. Being FAA considers itself to be sole authority over U.S. Airspace.
