Answer to your question is no you don’t , but it might enhance your flight. You can use compass triangle on your map left lower corner this triangle will show correct heading of your craft .

Short answer, no. But you won't quickly know where the drone is in relation to your position. That's all the compass is used for.

You don’t need to download any maps to check which way the compass heading is .
And you don't ever fly with internet

Flying without a compass won't affect the drone's flight, gps will still work for RTH etc. No need to worry.
