I have a phantom 3 pro, can someone please help! When I transfer my Videos from the Micro SD card to my MAC there is a lag on QuickTime ,iPhoto and iTunes when I playback? What is the reasoning and what do I need to do or use to watch a smooth 4K video? I have 640 GB of space on my MAC so it can't be a space issue I don't believe . I am new to the videography so help is much needed!

640 GB? Really? Are you confusing your internal RAM with hard drive storage space.

Is the MAC really capable of playing back 4K video? (I'm not a MAC user myself.) It's been my understanding that most of what's out there can NOT play 4K directly.

It sounds like it's time to upgrade your computer. 4k plays back okay for me, but I'm running a quad-core i7 with 32GB of RAM.

What are you running on your Mac? I have a IMac 2.9GHz intel Core i5 8GB memory. I use FCP but you should be able to use iMovie. It works fine for me.

I have a late 2013 iMac 3,4 GHz Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 Mo and Fusion drive 3TB and everything is fine with 4K shootage.
I don't import anything : I put the MicroSD in an adapter, insert it behind the Mac and copy video files to an external HD connected (USB3).
Pictures (R+J) are copied on the same disk and imported into Aperture as referenced files (as C1Pro don't recognize FC300X DNG)

That's an older machine - you should look at a new machine.

I have a late 2013 MBP with an i7 Quad Core and 16GB RAM.  Hard drive space is usually not the limiting factor, it's CPU cores and RAM.

Chris,

Why dont you simply create a folder on your MAC, or your external HDD, and drag files from the SD into one of these?

Your internall HDD or external HDD will both be better equiped for such files to be read from. I'd never dream of importing a large video file from a memory card into FCP X.

Cheers,

Nick
