This place reminds me of what I think the wild west would have looked like.

It is, in fact, an old mine - the building is the pump house and behind the building, you can see the mineshaft from above.

The pump was used to pump the water out of the mine.

They say, "there are rivers of gold down there". The amount of water that went through the mine made it unprofitable to extract the gold.

Can you see me in the photo from above?

P.S. you will notice that some. of the brick are missing in the pump house .  . . they were used years later to build a farmhouse just down the road, that's history

Thanks, Captain Blériot53, I thought the b/w makes it look more dramatic - the colour in the original image detracts from the story in the image.
