Can you please also clarify if usually the warranty starts from date of activation of controller?

I don't know about other parts of the world but warranties in the UK normally start at the date of purchase. A practice  that needs updating as people don't always go into shops to make purchases any more and often have to wait for unspecified delivery times. Fill in an online warranty and they always ask for date of purchase along with seller details.
