Hi Dji gurus,

I am after some advice, the latest Dji MAvic Mini Firmware update gave it a couple more safety features in the RTH settings.
You can either RTH as normal, Hover or Descend.
I am try to write down a few scenrios for when you would you need to use the Descend option.
I cannot think of one flying situation where you would need to descend if you loose signal.
Can anyone suggest any ?

Thanks

Interesting question.
Can't think of any reasons why indeed.
You are probably further away when this happens so the last thing I would want is to descend automatically.

I have been rattling my brain all day and cannot think of one example of when I would want the drone to descend if signal is lost. Very strange to have it as an option. Maybe someone will come up with one.

Let's hope so.
Otherwise it feels like: hey we need more options but can't think of one.
Let's add this one.

I'll through my off-the-wall suggestion into the ring.

I was wondering about your question also and the only scenario I could come up with was lets say it was a windy day and you fly downwind from your takeoff location. Now its time to return home but you are now flying against the wind and you realize that your battery may not last the whole time. Now you can initiate RTH with descend and the drone will find a safe place to land using obstacle avoidance to safely touch down.

Good thinking, but wouldn't hover do that anyway?

Yes but I think when you hoover and the battery eventually dies it will just land regardless of obstacles. With the RTH descend option it will find the best place to land. I think that's how it works.

I will give it a test tomorrow and see! that will be interesting to find out.
