No one's commented on this yet, so I guess I will.
What's up with the ND filter combinations/included ND filters with the flymore combo? Granted, not everyone who buys this drone knows about or cares about the 180 degree rule, and they will probably end up adjusting exposure with shutter speed anyway. However, for the enthusiast and even pro videographer, it is 100% necessary on a drone without variable aperture to have the proper ND filter to achieve natural motion blur.
What DJI has done makes 0 sense for the consumer, although I'm sure the marketing team would have a nicely worded way to spin it. The ND filter set included in the flymore combo is the 32/64/256, and to give readers a frame of reference, an ND 32 would be used on a very bright sunny day shooting against snow at 24/30 FPS. Most of the time I'm shooting with an ND4 or ND8 to gain proper exposure/shutterspeed. Since the majority of people buying this drone will be primarily using it for video, it would make WAYYY more sense to include a set of ND4/8/16 filters in the flymore combo. In addition, DJI should modify the filter sets themselves to include 4/8/16 and 32/64/256 respectively. The percentage of people actually using these drones for long exposure photography to the degree that the darker filters would provide will be relatively small. The way they have it setup now almost guarantees that most customers will have to spend an extra $70 (100 CAD) on another set of filters. A not so subtle way DJI seems to be squeezing a little more profit out of its customer base. |
