I use the IPad mini with my Mavic Air, does anyone know if the IPad will fit and work with the new Mavic Air 2 please?

A very good question but looks like it will need some sort of adapter.

I use an ipad mini with my Mavic mini.  I had to buy an adaptor which works extreamly well with the controller.  Yes the Ipad mini will work with the Mavic mini.  Mine is a Cellular iPad and it is perfect for what I want.
