Perhaps you should mention the Bayer Filter.

A mavic 2 and Mavic Mini combo seems to make more sense for me.

Can you explain your opinion?

The Bayer filter on the sensor that converts a 12mp sensor to 48mp.

Thw Mini's size, portability, and no need to use a sticker in order to register. The Mavic 2 Pro for LOG profiles, much better low light, and general stability. Also, the zooms ability to change focal length.

I disagree, sir!

You cannot physically change the resolution of the sensor. It is always a 48MP sensor, that uses a Quad Bayer filter to group 4 pixels into one. Which means by default, you get a 12MP pictures and videos, with a working pixel size of 1.6 microns.

If you want that Super-resolution 48MP photo, then Quad Bayer is negated via software, and you basically split each big pixel into 4 small 0.8 micron ones. That increases the resolution, but also brings more noise into the picture, since the pixel is now 4x smaller, and it can see 4x less light.

Don't you agree?

Not really. However the side effect of the filter is an increase in dynamic range which is usually welcomed.

Can you explain why you disagree? Because everything I said before is correct.

Is there something that I am unaware of?

I wouldn't say the higher dynamic range is a "side effect" because the main goal of pixel binning is to reduce image noise in low-light scenarios, as well as to increase dynamic range.

For that, you need bigger pixels. And when you put 40 million pixels in a 1/2" rectangle, you get really tiny pixels. The only way to get bigger pixels is to bin them together, and that is achieved using a Quad Bayer filter.

Am I wrong?

Everything he explained was pretty much correct, what is it exactly that you disagree with? Your initial statement about the bayer filter converting 12mp into 48mp is not really correct, the sensor *does* have 48mp. Quad-binning is used in the opposite way of what you said, it's converting 48mp into 12mp by grouping 2x2 pixels together to get bigger pixels for low-light situations.

It puts them pretty close together, but I agree for a pro who has to or likes to spend a lot of time in post the M2P tips it, I’d like to see comparisons with the zoom, I believe apart from actual zoom this MA2 would come out well ahead .

Most definitely, the sensor is much better than M2Zoom has, the only downside is that MA2 doesn't have an actual optical zoom.

I have a zoom but I actually don’t find much use for Zoom, so I’m selling it getting MA2 better for me for traveling .
