It's been a while I bought anamorphic lens from Ulanzi.
I ordered at the day when it's released, so it's about two month of time I have been using it daily.
Any anamorphic lens of this size and price is more like a toy.
But being able to use anamorphic lens with gimbal in this simple package is quite attractive.
So when ahead and bought then test it as soon as I got it.
Compressed anamorphic image overlayed in 16:9 aspect ratio.
You can already see the distortion in the image.
Compressed anamorphic image overlayed in 21:9 aspect ratio.
It is definitely over stretched.
So Ulanzi's claimed 1.33x magnification spec is not true. Unfortunatly...
In reality, it is a perfect 18:9 aspect ratio.
Too bad not being able to shoot cinemascope with it but 18:9 is still has some use.
So far the image I can get out of this lens is very interesting.
I cannot say it is in high quality but indeed all the lens flare is a joy to toy with.
I think a lot of light bleeding is happening because of this open gap between lens housing and the base.
It leaks the light to the lens.
I am not sure if they do it to save the weight or just bad quality control but...
Magnet and the lens extrud out from the base... another source of light leak into the lens.
It is a cheap lens but a lot of fun using it.
Resulted image might not meet the quality expectation but if you feel upto the challenge, give it a try.
